If there’s one thing in this world you can be sure of, it’s that gas is dangerous. Why is gas so dangerous? Simple: it can kill you. That’s why owning a good, reliable gas detector is so important, and when it comes to quality gas detectors, no one makes them quite like Honeywell. Honeywell gas detectors are time-tested, and over the years no other type of gas detector has stood out from amongst the pack quite like those made by Honeywell.

The Honeywell Lumidor Impact Pro Gas Detector is a great example of an excellent, and affordable, gas detector. It is ideal for providing personal protection in places where deadly gases are likely to be found. What specifically sets this gas detector apart, though, are its Surecell toxic sensors, which provide both stability and accuracy.

Single gas detectors, which offer an extra level of portability, are also available from Honeywell. Despite their small size, these Honeywell gas detectors are fully capable of monitoring various toxic hazards.

Honeywell’s multi-gas detectors are also quite portable. They’re also capable of monitoring five different toxic gases on just one screen. Another thing that many people like about these gas detectors is the fact that you can choose between using alkaline or rechargeable batteries. This adds even more convenience to these already convenient Honeywell gas detectors.

These are only a few examples of excellent Honeywell gas detectors. Others are available on our Web site, DiscountSafetyGear.com. Check them out today. You can’t go wrong with a Honeywell gas detector, especially if you work in areas were dangerous gases are likely to be found.

Believe it or not, my friends, it’s already August. Before you know it fall will be here in full force, and that means winter will soon be bearing down upon us as well. Winter stinks, let’s face it, but it stinks even more when you’re stuck on the sick bed, which is why flu prevention is always so important. Time spent protecting yourself against the flu is always time well spent. Flu protection—make it a top priority this fall and winter.

The first thing you need to know about flu prevention is that there are several different ways to protect oneself from the flu. In order to increase your chance of not getting the flu, you should do all of the following:

Use hand sanitizer! Flu protection begins with hand sanitizer. Using hand sanitizer is one of the easiest ways to prevent an attack from the flu-bug. Simply squeeze a bit unto your hands every few hours to effectively kill any germs and bacteria that might be settling down for a stay on your skin. You can even get large Purell hand-sanitizer dispensers.

Use gloves! If you’re working in an area in which germs and more likely to be spread, such as elementary schools, hospitals or casinos, you should definitely use disposable gloves to protect yourself against the flu! You won’t regret it!

Use flu masks! If there is an outbreak of flu in your neighborhood, wearing a flu mask is not such a bad idea. Doing so will help to protect you against the dangerous bacteria and germs floating around in the air, dangerous germs and bacteria that like entering your body through the nose and mouth.

So those are some tips on flu prevention. Don’t forget, no one wants to see you sick in bed this fall and winter, so start protecting yourself against the flu today!

Just like everyone needs water, everyone needs a good flashlight or lantern. It’s just a simple fact of life. Without flashlights and lanterns none of us could see in the dark, making storms and other such phenomena much more troublesome. Plus, if flashlights and lanterns didn’t exist, we might find it hard to make shadow-puppets on the walls of tents. Thank goodness for flashlights and lanterns!

Bright Star Trooper

There are many respectable companies making flashlights and lanterns these days. Some, however, are better than others. At the very top of the heap we find such outfits as StreamLight, Bright Star, and RayoVac. These three companies, above all others, have proven themselves time and again to be capable of meeting all of their customers’ flashlight-and-lantern demands.

StreamLight makes some of the handiest and unique flashlights this world has ever known. If you’re looking for something more basic or classic, check out their Stinger model. On the other hand, if you think you’d like to take a walk on the side of unconventionality, make sure to stop and pause over their Stylus LED pen lights. Their fantastic for folks of all ages!

Bright Star, for its part, makes a fantastic LED flashlight known as the Trooper. It’s a real machine that features a focused beam and 3-watt LED light bulb that can last for more than 50,000 hours. That’s right, I said 50,000 hours!

Finally, no discussion of flashlights and lanterns would be complete without mentioning RayoVac’s outstanding line-up, which includes their out-of-this-world RayoVac 6-Volt Lantern with Krypton Bulb. This sucker has far too many features to list here. Suffice it to say that it is awesome and a real must have for anyone that uses flashlights and lanterns on a regular basis.

Trauma Kit

If you work in a place where accidents are a real possibility (e.g., construction sites or chemical plants), the importance of having a trauma kit close at hand is tough to overstate. Without a good trauma kit, administering first aid can be all but impossible.

First aid is serious business, since it could mean the difference between sustaining a serious injury and walking away from an accident relatively unscathed. That being said, many trauma kits being sold today simply aren’t up to snuff.

Any good trauma kit should include, among other items, a wide array of bandages, antibacterial and sanitizing products, compresses, burn dressing and gel, eye wash, gauze, gloves, a thermometer, a tourniquet, and a split. Other items included in a quality trauma kit might include peroxide, biohazard bags and ammonia inhalant.

Of course, you also want your trauma kit to come in a durable box; otherwise, you could end up losing essential first aid items. You do not, however, want the box to be too bulky, which can often lead to a loss of portability. It’s also a plus when the box is water and dust resistant.

Finally, if you work in an industry that falls within the jurisdiction of ANSI, you’ll need to make sure your trauma kit meets their standards, particularly ANSI Standard Z308.1.2003. If you fail to do so, you could be putting your own health and safety at risk, as well as that of any coworkers that might depend on you.

Spill Control Kit

Before working with chemicals, it’s important to stop and think about chemical safety. If you fail to do so, you could end up in the hospital. And besides, chemical safety is easy to get a handle on. All you need to do is make sure you’ve got the proper equipment, such as glasses, gloves, cans, and eyewash stations. Of course, you need to remember to actually use that equipment as well! Other than that, though, you should be good to go.

Your hands are important, plain and simple. Without them, you wouldn’t even be able to go to work each day. That’s why owning a good pair of chemical-resistant gloves is such a good idea. If you’re handling dangerous chemicals on a daily basis, what could be more useful to you than gloves? North Rubber Gloves are a great option, especially if you’re looking to get a high-quality item for a low price.

Next, think about your eyes. Without them, not only could you not go to work, but you probably couldn’t go much of anywhere. So get yourself some chemical safety glasses, and back yourself up with a good eyewash station. Trust me; your eyes will thank you later.

Flammable safety cabinets are important if you need to store dangerous chemicals, and spill control kits are needed in case you happen to spill some of them. Chemical-resistant footwear is something else to think about when you’re looking into chemical safety, especially if you’re walking around in areas where chemicals could come into contact with your feet, which, like your eyes and hands, are very important!

As you can see, your physical well-being is very important, so don’t play any games when it comes to chemical safety…play it safe!

If you’ve ever felt the pain that comes from having dangerous chemicals make contact with your eyes, you know how important eyewash stations are. An eyewash station can help protect you against dangerous chemicals should an accident occur. In the end, not having an eyewash station in place where dangerous chemicals are handled routinely is just plain reckless, especially when you consider how valuable your eyesight is. You’re not getting another set of peepers, my friend, so take care of the ones you got.

Eyewash stations work by ejecting a steady stream saline solution into the eyes. The saline solution has a pH level close to that of human tears, and it’s both sterile and buffered, meaning you’re placing yourself in no danger by shooting it into your eyes. That is nice to know, because when you’ve already got a set of eyes that are full of burning chemicals, the last thing you want to do is go shooting more dangerous liquids in there.

There are several types of eyewash stations available these days, including both portable and stationary models. Obviously, portable eyewash stations are desirable if you’re going to be moving from worksite to worksite. If, on the other hand, you work in the same place each and every day, a stationary eyewash station may be the way to go. Once one of these eyewash stations has been used, you simply need to buy some new solution and refill it.

Several different companies make eyewash stations. Some of the best include Fend-All, Speakman and North Emergency. Buying an eyewash station from a reputable manufacturer is always a good idea. If you buy one from a less-than-scrupulous manufacturer, it may not work when you need it most. Play it safe and go with one of the brands mentioned above.

Remember, your eyesight is no game. When you’re working with dangerous chemicals, make sure there is an eyewash station nearby. It’s not worth the risk otherwise. Wash your next emergency away with an eyewash station made by a reputable manufacturer.

Buying a Rubbermaid cooler is a great way to reduce your chances of experiencing dehydration at work. The heat of summer can be unforgiving, but with a new Rubbermaid cooler you and your coworkers will feel refreshed and energized all day long. Available in three different sizes, Rubbermaid coolers are inexpensive, durable and easily moved from one jobsite to the next.

Rubbermaid Cooler

When you’re out shopping for something, no matter what it is, you always want to make sure that you buy from a dependable company, right? Well, I dare say you’d be hard-pressed to find a more dependable company than Rubbermaid. For over 70 years Rubbermaid has been making high quality and innovative products, and it just so happens that the Rubbermaid cooler is one of their most popular items.

After you’ve settled on a great company such as Rubbermaid, the next thing you’ll be thinking about during your shopping experience is, of course, price. Rubbermaid coolers are, despite their durability and usefulness, rather economical. The smallest Rubbermaid cooler, for example, can be had for as little as $34.99. And the biggest Rubbermaid cooler goes for just $67.99. With prices like that attached to them, it’s no wonder that Rubbermaid coolers are so popular.

When you work in construction, you’re constantly moving from one jobsite to the next, which means everything that you buy for work has to be extremely portable. There’s no point in buying something that can’t go with you to each and every location. Rubbermaid coolers are very portable. You can throw them in the back of your pick up truck with no problem at all. Just make sure to drink all the water or Gatorade in them first, or you could end up with quite a mess on your hands.

Finally, buying a Rubbermaid cooler is such a good idea because of how durable they are. They can really take a beating! I once owned a Rubbermaid cooler for some fifteen or sixteen years, and it never leaked once; it never let me down once; not once! Rubbermaid coolers are the cream of the crop when it comes to coolers for the jobsite. Trust me, I’ve been working on jobsites for so long my knees are shot and my hands ache all day long. Get a Rubbermaid cooler today!

Cowboy Hard Hat

There are many different types of hard hats available today. Some hard hats are designed to look like cowboy hats. Other hard hats can feature the logos of sports teams or various national flags. These days workers can even customize their hard hats, allowing them to give their work wear a personal touch, something we all long for. Whichever type of hard hat you choose to go with, it’s imperative that you protect your head.

Personally, I’m partial to the cowboy hard hats. There’s nothing quite like strutting onto a construction site for the first time wearing a cowboy hard hat. If you’ve just joined a work-hardened crew of men that eat their lunches with greasy hands and have names like Sal and Joe, wearing a cowboy hard hat is a surefire way to earn their respect.

Along with cowboy hard hats, those featuring patriotic designs are great. After all, few things in this world are more striking than Old Glory, and anyone with red, white and blue blood pumping through their veins would do well to wear something along the lines of this American Stars and Stripes Hard Hat.

Bengals Hard Hat

On the other hand, if you happen to be of the Mexican or Canadian persuasion, hard hats featuring the Mexican flag and the Canadian Maple Leaf are also available.

Finally, if there’s one thing a man can say about any other man, it’s that he loves sports. That’s why NFL hard hats are so popular throughout the good old U.S. of A. However, fans of the Cincinnati Bengals should proceed with some degree of caution when wearing a hard hat featuring those rather feminine Bengal stripes.

As young boys most of us dreamed of one day becoming a fireman or a police officer. Others however, such as myself, wanted to be John Wayne. Sadly, getting a job being John Wayne can be difficult, but with a nice cowboy hard hat, I can at least pretend to be The Duke while at work.

Cowboy hard hats from Vulcan are pretty much the best ones I’ve found so far. They’re comfortable and very stylish. Best off all, Vulcan cowboy hard hats are customizable, so you can make them say whatever you like. Mine says, “You’re the toughest man on this construction site – next to me.”

Cowboy hard hats, especially those made Vulcan, are also very inexpensive, so don’t go thinking that you’ll have to spend a lot of money in order to get your hands on one. As a matter of fact, most cowboy hard hats cost less than 30 bucks. But the fact that they’re cheap doesn’t mean that they don’t comply with all the safety standards, because they do.

So, if you’ve always wanted to be a cowboy but never had the chance, don’t waste anymore time and get yourself a nice Vulcan cowboy hard hat today. It probably end up being one the best investment ever make, considering the fact that it’s not only going to keep you looking good but safe at the same time.
